Twilight, then early evening. Fireflies
in the room, flickering here and there, here and there,
and summer’s deep sweetness filling the open window.
Listen to my breathing, your own breathing
like the fireflies, each small breath
a flare in which the world appears.
Excerpt from the poem “Lullaby,” found in “The Wild Iris” by Louise Gluck.
Very beautiful. I think the fall and spring are my favorite times of year. I love opening my windows and letting in the fresh air. Talk to you soon. hugs, kYndale
We have those same butterfly mobiles! Lovely excerpt…I’ll have to look up the poet.
